Further Information

During the weekly sessions, you will experience and be supported with practicing guided mindfulness meditation practices while lying and sitting, as well as other breath practices and very simple and gentle mindfulness breath movement while sitting or standing. We will also discuss, learn and explore how to integrate these practices into our day-to-day living so that we can be with challenges and difficulties in a more responsive and creative way. The MBSR course cultivates ways of moving away from living on autopilot so that we can live more fully in the present moment. It also helps us to recognise ingrained unhelpful habitual patterns that are often the triggers of stress and worry. We might not be able to change some challenges but we can change the way we respond to them so that we take care of ourselves. Throughout the course, we are learning ways of living our lives with a newly found sense of calm, inner stillness and poise.

Nearing the end of the course there is a full day of mindfulness meditation practice that takes place on a Saturday. The full day gives us an opportunity to be with ourselves, to deepen our practice while sharing and experiencing the collective energy and support of the mindfulness group. It is a chance to retreat from the busyness and demands of daily life while providing options to connect with nature and the surrounding countryside.

We will meet once a week for 2.5 hours in a warm, tranquil, spacious and private meditation studio. Water and biscuits are available on arrival. Thick yoga mats and cushions are provided as are foot blocks and meditation stools (if you choose to use one later on in the course). You are welcome to borrow a meditation stool for home use
